Back to the grind!  I apologize for the lack of 5th grade homework on the blog last week, but with being gone to School of the Wild, I did not see my 5th graders at the end of the day!

** Just a reminder, 6th graders no longer have an extra day for their assignments without having to go to homework club on Friday.  We are trying to teach them to follow deadlines and be punctual with their work!

The students did a great job representing a Native American Cultural Region through dioramas!  See if you can figure out the regions from the picture! (Some titles give it away!)  Here are the cultural regions studied:

California Intermountain, Northwest Coast, Southwest, Plateau, Great Plains, Eastern Woodlands, Southeast, and Arctic.

We are now looking for adult volunteers to assist with the third phase of the I-WALK Program, which involves creating a detailed map of the Van Allen community using an iPhone GPS app.  The GPS Mapping Day is scheduled for Wednesday, October 17, 2012.  We will be mapping Van Allen in the morning and Horn in the afternoon.

Van Allen Community

9:00 – 10:00am:  Training (at the North Liberty Community Center)

10:00am – 12:00pm:  GPS Mapping

12:00 – 12:45pm:  Lunch and Debriefing
